Milestones

1948-1956
Late Rai Bahadur Durgaprasadji Saraf formed a company called R.B. Shreeram & Co. Pvt. Limited (R.B.S & Co.) in the name of his father Seth Shreeramji with its Head Quarters in Tumsar in the State of Maharashtra. R.B. S. & Co. becomes India's first pioneer miners of manganese ore with its mining activities in Andhra Pradesh in a village called Garividi which was later renamed Shreeram Nagar. R.B.S. expands activities to mining of iron ore in Goa.

1956
13th March 1956, Ferro Alloys Corporation Limited (FACOR) is formed and India's first modernized Ferro Manganese Plant had been set up and commissioned in Shreeram Nagar.

1968
FACOR expands and sets up a Ferro Chrome Plant. FACOR expands in Orissa simultaneously and start mining Chrome Ore.

1978
FACOR promotes Vidharba Iron & Steel Co. (VISCO) in Nagpur to produce Specialty Steel Products.

1981
FACOR sets up India's first 16 MVA totally indigenous plant in Shreeram Nagar.

1983
Asia's First and largest single 45 MVA Furnance set up at the company's Charge Chrome Plant in Orissa. The plant was inaugurated by the then President of India Shri Zail Singh in a new township called DP Nagar.

1987
FACOR diversifies into chemicals and sets up Indian Maize and Chemicals Ltd.

1989
FACOR installs 50 MW diesel power plant, the first of its kind on land with five 10 MW DG sets supplied by MAN B&W, Germany.

2004
FACOR is trifurcated to three Public Limited Companies:
 i)   Ferro Alloys Corporation Ltd.
 ii)  FACOR Alloys Ltd.
 iii) FACOR Steel Ltd.

2005
Facor Power Ltd. incorporated to undertake business of generation of electricity.

2007
Facor Realty And Infrastructure incorporated for foray in Real Estate Business.

» The Ministry of Environment & Forests, New Delhi has recently accorded its Environmental clearance to Facor Power Ltd. for putting up 45 MW Captive Power plant in Orissa, vide its letter dated 19th March, 2009. Copy of Clearance letter is available with the State Pollution Control Board/Committee and may also be seen at Website of the Ministry of Environment and Forests at http://envfor.nic.in
